The Manager of First Impressions also known as the Front Desk Operator or Office Manager (depending on how inflated the job title needs to be), is the true gatekeeper of the organisation. This is the individual who greets visitors, answers phones, and ensures the office doesn’t collapse into total anarchy. They are also responsible for such mission-critical duties as ordering pizza, laying out the wine and beer for Friday drinky-poos. They are also responsible for making sure the photocopier has enough paper to sustain another week of corporate nonsense.
A good receptionist is worth their weight in gold—efficient, friendly, helpful, and somehow capable of knowing where every employee is at any given moment.
